Agriculture

Farming communities are the backbone of Alberta, providing wealth and feeding hungry mouths across Canada and the world.

Brian Mason and Alberta's NDP support farmers who earn a living while providing food for our province and our country.

To assist farmers, Alberta's NDP would:

Support the Canadian Wheat Board.
Prepare the agriculture sector for the transition to other energy forms in order to insure food security.
Provide funding and incentives for farms to produce environmental goods and services.
Support public research in new varieties of grain, livestock and sustainable, organic agriculture.
Institute a proper, long term disaster plan farmers can count on.
Protect and preserve farmland for future generations.
