Housing

Every Albertan should have a roof over their head. Renters should be protected from skyrocketing increases, first-time homebuyers should be able to afford a house, and the less fortunate should have a warm place to lay their heads.
Alberta's NDP Opposition believes the province should have a strategy to temporarily limit rent increases in times of rapid market upswings, as recommended by the Housing Task Force. We’re also working to close loopholes that allow apartments to be converted to condos without input from renters.
Our province is short at least 6,000 new affordable housing units. These should include social housing alternatives such as co-ops, non-profit and special needs housing.
