Alberta's NDP Bill 208: Guaranteeing Public Healthcare for Our Future
Alberta’s NDP Opposition is presenting legislation to stand up against the pressures for growing privatization in the health system, and to strengthen a fully public system in Alberta.
Albertans deserve and expect quality public healthcare.
In the decades since the NDP first created medicare in Saskatchewan, it’s become the standard here in Alberta and across the country. It’s part of our identity as a caring society.
But the Alberta PC government has a very different agenda. A leaked document from the PC caucus shows they have plans to open the door to more private care after the next election. The Wildrose Alliance openly endorses privatization as an easy fix. Alberta’s NDP is the only party with the faith in our public health system to restore it, rather than throw it away.
Brian Mason has introduced Bill 208 as an important piece of legislation to shield public health care from the attacks it is facing, with the goal of having an excellent and sustainable system that will support the well-being of every Albertan.
